Lou Kregel: Modern painting and design for industry

WINTER/SPRING 2008
It's been such a mild winter that it seems anticlimatic to think that spring is just around the corner, but it is and i'm excited to be able to get down into my basement where all my painting supplies are kept and get back to work. ..

ADD has a sweet little group show in the hallway at Cine, Athens' most awesome movie house. If you haven't seen a movie there yet, please go by... this is one of the places that makes Athens so great to live in and we all need to support it. The art show runs through February.

Coming in April, ADD will have a show at the Lyndon House that's connected to the CLR (cigarette litter receptacle) project we're finishing up for Keep Athens Clarke County Beautiful. i know it may not sound exciting, but it's been a fascinating process for us- not just designing as a group but also working with the KACCB people and other city departments (all you guys ROCK, by the way) and we learned a lot. The show will be about our design process and will include sketches and various prototypes including the final product.

Five Star Day Cafe is letting me hang new paintings on their walls in April, and i'm thinking there's going to be a lot of pink , my new/old favorite color, in this one. And it's just in time for tax refund checks to be arriving in the mail. Seriously, i highly recommend art as a retirement investment.

Other interesting things happening in Athens include the AUX2 Experimental Arts Festival on Saturday, Feb. 23rd. Lots of music by local bands including The New Sound of Numbers which features some of my old co-workers from R.Wood Studio.

OLD NEWS (for the love of oxymorons) My 2008 calendars are in and the printer (Online Print Source) did a beautiful job. i'll have them on my shop page soon, but if you'd like one, email me. They're $12 including S&H.

Target.com just added 5 more of my rugs to their web site! Here are links to them if you'd like to see. BTW... i didn't name these! It would never occur to me to name a rug "Vacant Emotions", but then Target knows more about this than i do...
"Cells" rug in Lime Green/"Cells" rug in Orange Rust/"Color Cluster" rug in Orange
"Bright Horizons" Rug in Wine/"Rainy Days" rug in Gray/"Vacant Emotions" rug in Brown
